Brand fresh news about an SEO contest and the possible results !!!

Since the very beginning of march a new SEO contest has been launched...
The purpose : be first in MSN search FR on the term : sorcier glouton :)
It seems that the algorythms of that search robot are very particular.

The robot has visited some sites and crawled a lot of pages and it appears that those site don't even appear in the search results ...
By the side, I just received an e-mail dealing with results of traffic income for top ranked sites in Yahoo or MSN search. The SEO of those sites notified he had no income from those search engine even being in very good position on terms required very often.
The fact that sponsored links on MSN search are viewable all around the result pages may affect the choice of the hit.
If this is really the case, is there really a point to be first and to spend some time in trying to rank sites in those engines ?
